Injury update: Avery Bradley out 2 more weeks

Bradley could return after the All Star break

Brad Stevens told reporters last night that Avery Bradley would not be attending the West coast road trip and would likely be out till after the All Star break. They had originally targeted this trip as a potential time for him to return but the lack of practice time may be a factor.

Bradley has played just one game (on Jan. 16th) since he strained his right Achilles back on Jan. 6th. He’s missed 14 total games thus far to this injury and it looks like he’ll miss an additional 5 leading up to the break.

Avery is a very useful two-way player that the Celtics could use on the court. He’s also one of the more sought after trade chips that Danny Ainge conceivably could move at the trade deadline (trading from a position of surplus to fill a need elsewhere). However, teams generally like to see a player back on the court playing basketball before they give up assets for him (not to mention the physical he’d likely need to pass).

The Celtics are on a roll right now, but it is never good to be without your 2nd leading scorer and leading rebounder (not to mention one of the best defenders in the game) for long stretches at a time. Get well soon Avery.
