Standings watch: Celtics back in 1st

Future so bright.

NBA: Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

The Celtics didn’t play last night, but they managed to pull into 1st place by way of a Cleveland Cavs loss. For some inexplicable reason, the Cavs lost all their games against the Bulls this season. Anyone else hoping that the Bulls manage to get into the playoffs and somehow get matched up with Cleveland?

In other good news, the Nets lost last night. That means they still have a 5-game “lead” over the Lakers (5.5 over the Suns) for the worst record in the NBA. They have 7 games left, so if they lose 3 more games, that will lock up the best lottery odds for the Celtics. Note that if they end in a tie with the Lakers or Suns, the lottery odds would be split between the teams. There is no coin flip.

The Celtics play again tonight against the Orlando Magic. For fun, head over to our friends Red’s Army and play their Celtics BINGO game.

Or you can just bask in the glow of this Kelly Olynyk picture.
