We’ve known for a while that Isaiah Thomas is close with his namesake (Pistons legend) Isiah Thomas. What we didn’t know was that another Celtic rival is giving Thomas tips on how to keep growing his game. Kobe Bryant (of all people) is helping him break down game film.
According to CSN’s A. Sherrod Blakley, Bryant has been working with Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas. They started working together in the playoffs, specifically ever since the Celtics were down to the Chicago Bulls 0-2 in the first round. Boston has yet to lose a game since. Thomas also scored 53 points, the most by any player in the playoffs since 2003, on Tuesday.
So what are Isaiah’s impressions of Kobe?
“Mentally, he’s on a different level than anybody I’ve ever met,” Thomas said on Wednesday. “We were on the phone for 30 minutes. I e-mailed him my film and he watched every second of it. He was telling me what times to go and what to look at, just certain plays and things I didn’t look at when I watched film. Like I said, mentally you could tell he’s one of the greatest ever.”
Between Isiah, Kobe, and inspirational messages from Kevin Garnett, it seems like Isaiah has a lot of legends on his side.
