Sources tell CelticsBlog that the Celtics have renounced the draft rights to Marcus Thornton. Thornton was drafted with the 15th pick of the second round (45th overall) in 2015. Thornton played at William & Mary in college.
Since being drafted, Thornton has played for Sydney in the NBL in Australia in 2015-16 and for Consultinvest VL Pesaro in Lega A in Italy in 2016-17.
Thornton started 27 of 28 games for Sydney and averaged 12.7 points per game. For Consultinvest VL Pesaro, Thornton started 21 of 30 games and averaged 13.5 points per game.
Thornton is now a free agent and eligible to sign with any NBA team.
