Landing the Big Fish

So, here we are die hard Celtics Fans. We are on the precipice of a very precarious offseason that could place the Celts in Championship Contender mode for the next decade. Just as before with the trades for Ray Allen and KG, we have drafted well and developed a core of young players that entices many of the leagues' GMs. To form our Championship winning Big 3, we had to give up quite a bit; Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Delonte West, Gerald Green and a 1st round pick. We also had to throw in Sebastian Telfair and Theo Ratliff's contract.

That was quite a haul for two players, but we got a championship out of it. Were it not for a fluke knee injury to Big Perk, we would have undoubtedly won at least 2. But after that, we have been a middle of the pack team. KG got hurt and that was it. We are now faced with the same opportunity. Trade some of the assets we've developed for more established players in hopes of hoisting another Trophy. In this case, we're hoping to attract younger pieces than KG and Ray, who could potentially be very productive in Boston for the next 5-6 years. So, who do we give up for PG? As with many fans, we tend to overvalue our assets, but in this case, I'd hate to see Marcus Smart or Jaylen Brown leave under any circumstances. As much as I would hate it, I'd hate to see Marcus leave most of all. Players with his kind of heart and tenacity don't come along very often. The box score at the end of the night doesn't tell the story for players like him. As for Jaylen, he was definitely my pic in the draft last year and I believe he has a tremendous future ahead of him. I love his intelligence and exuberance for the game. We know Indiana wants more than draft pics, so what's the winning package for PG? What will it take?
