The Boston Celtics have had the same trainer for the past 30 seasons. Ed Lacerte is one of the most respected individuals in his profession. Bryan Doo has been with the team for the last 14 years and was a well liked strength and conditioning coach. Both, however, appear to be moving on from the team.
Per Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald:
The Celtics are revamping their sports science and training operation, and, in addition to strength coach Bryan Doo choosing to forego an altered role, the club is parting ways with longtime trainer Ed Lacerte.
I’m not sure exactly what a revamped sports science and training operation would look like, nor would I pretend to know the industry well enough to know if this was a needed change or not. But it is interesting.
Evolution of sports science has ravaged the NBA trainer ranks. Lot of longtime guys let go in recent years. https://t.co/SeqNPRnoUV
