New Celtic Marcus Morris and twin his brother Markieff Morris (Washington Wizards) are next due in court on August 28, 2017, per a tweet from Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix, AZ.

Sources across the NBA media previously reported that the date was set for August 21, 2017. Here at CelticsBlog, we reviewed much of what was known about the case in the middle of July. The charges, which include aggravated assault, could carry jail time. The Boston Globe supplied a small updated report this morning, in addition to the news from Maricopa County Superior Court:

Marcus, who was obtained this offseason from the Pistons, and twin brother Markieff, who plays for the Wizards, were allegedly involved in an incident in Phoenix in January 2015 that left Erik Hood with a broken nose, abrasions and a large bump on his head. The Morris twins have said they had nothing to do with the incident.

For a more detailed account of the allegations, check out A. Sherrod Blakely’s report at CSNNE.com. Morris was acquired in a trade earlier this summer when the C’s sent longtime guard and defensive stalwart Avery Bradley to the Detroit Pistons.
