Sources: The Boston Celtics plan to sign forward Jarell Eddie of G League Windy City to a 10-day contract. Boston filling its open roster spot.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) January 19, 2018
Eddie was a member of the Chicago Bulls G-League affiliate, and has played sparingly for the Wizards and Suns the last two seasons after going undrafted in 2014. Eddie is known as a three-point specialist, attempting three times as many three pointers as two’s in his time in the NBA.
Eddie is shooting 50.7% on 7.5 3s per-game and is now at 44.9% on 692 career G League 3s. Likely the best shooter available, even if his NBA time (19/63) has been disappointing. https://t.co/hdpEJIB2P8— Blake Murphy (@BlakeMurphyODC) January 19, 2018
Eddie was averaging 17.2 points and just over four rebounds before getting picked up by Boston.
The 6’7” swingman will join a Celtics team that has left an open roster spot vacant all year. With the trade deadline approaching, Boston seems to be willing to try out a G-League player to see if he can earn a spot and add some floor spacing to Brad Stevens’ offense.
