Jaylen Brown said he has NOT received an invitation to the Slam Dunk Competition at All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles #Celtics— gary washburn (@GwashburnGlobe) January 23, 2018
This comes as a bit of a shock given the dunking abilities that Brown possesses. He was invited as a rookie but ultimately decided not to participate in an effort to prepare for the second half of the regular season.
Aaron Gordon, Victor Oladipo and Larry Nance Jr. along with Dennis Smith Jr. (as reported by @ShamsCharania) have accepted their invitations to the 2018 NBA Dunk Contest, a league source tells me.— Oliver Maroney (@OMaroneyNBA) January 23, 2018
Last year’s contest featured four participants in Glenn Robinson III, Derrick Jones Jr., DeAndre Jordan, and Aaron Gordon. Considering that four players have already accepted invites, it seems that Brown will not be in it at all this season, and it’s not a matter of him not receiving the invite yet.
Boston has players that should be under consideration for both, so there is still hope for more Celtic-representation at All-Star weekend along with Kyrie Irving.
