Jaylen Brown has not received an invite to the slam dunk contest

One of the NBA’s most athletic dunkers is not being considered for the slam dunk contest this year

Gary Washburn reported Tuesday that Celtics wing Jaylen Brown has not received an invite to the Slam Dunk contest at All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.

This comes as a bit of a shock given the dunking abilities that Brown possesses. He was invited as a rookie but ultimately decided not to participate in an effort to prepare for the second half of the regular season.

Last year’s contest featured four participants in Glenn Robinson III, Derrick Jones Jr., DeAndre Jordan, and Aaron Gordon. Considering that four players have already accepted invites, it seems that Brown will not be in it at all this season, and it’s not a matter of him not receiving the invite yet.

The All-Star game’s reserves are scheduled to be announced tonight on TNT before the Cavaliers play the Spurs at 8 p.m. EST, and the three-point contest participants have yet to be announced.

Boston has players that should be under consideration for both, so there is still hope for more Celtic-representation at All-Star weekend along with Kyrie Irving.
