Report: Marcus Smart (hand) flies home and will likely miss rest of road trip

New, comments

The curious case of Marcus Smart’s hand continues.

Adam Kaufman reported late Thursday night that Marcus Smart had returned to Boston with his right arm in a sling, seemingly out for the rest of the Celtics’ west coast road trip.

Smart suffered a laceration on his right hand Wednesday afternoon before the team’s game against the Clippers that night. It’s unclear how Smart injured himself, but Brad Stevens said that it happened on glass, and now we know that it was his shooting hand that received stitches.

Boston still has two games remaining on their west coast road trip, facing off against the Warriors Saturday and the Nuggets on Monday. The Celtics will then have three straight home games before a major eastern conference clash with the Toronto Raptors, so hopefully Smart will get back on the court by then.
