BOSTON - Kyrie Irving led the Boston Celtics to a 108-105 win on Tuesday night over the Detroit Pistons. Despite his 31 point effort, Irving discussed his effort to get into better shape after the win. Who did he shout out for motivating him? Tommy Heinsohn, of course.

“It’s always great when someone challenges you like that. Especially the respect I have for past Celtics legends,” Irving said. “I think he made it very clear to me. I caught wind of it probably like a week ago, and it bothered me because it was the most honest thing anyone had said about the way I was playing.”

Irving discussed his new hair cut as well. “I had a great run with it. It was a great afro. (Laughs) I’m happy I did it. Now it’s time to get back to what I’m used to, having a low haircut, not so much maintenance. I don’t have to get out of the shower and friggin’ dry my hair all the time.”

The all-star point guard also said he will miss Boston’s upcoming game against the Utah Jazz on November 9th due to his Grandfather’s memorial.
