After a 1-4 road trip out west, the Celtics finally came back to the TD Garden and coasted in their first blow out win. Kyrie Irving finished with 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting and seven assists. He seemed to pick and choose his spots. When the Celtics went down 8 early in the first quarter, he kicked it into gear and scored nine points in his first stint on the floor.
Jaylen Brown had his best game of the young season after disappearing in close games in Utah and Portland. He was decisive with his drive and confident with his shot, finishing with a team-high 18 points and hitting 2-of-4 from behind the arc. Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward chipped in with 14 and 11 respectively. The team collectively hit 15 of 34 threes and limited Chicago to seven 3’s and just nine free throws.
This wire-to-wire win sets up for a tough back-to-back rematches this weekend starting with the Toronto Raptors on Friday and Utah Jazz on Saturday.
