The Boston Celtics officially announced on Friday afternoon that point guard Kyrie Irving will miss tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz due to personal reasons.

This has been the plan since early last week when Irving told the media that he would be miss this game due to his late grandfather’s memorial service. The team has yet to announce who will start in Irving’s place.
The all-star guard’s 39 points led the Celtics to a come from behind victory over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night. Irving is now averaging 21 points, 5.4 assists, and 5 rebounds per game.
The Celtics and Jazz tip off from Vivint Smart Home Arena on Friday at 9:30 PM EST.
