Shane Larkin available to play, Aron Baynes out vs Knicks, Daniel Theis will start

The Celtics gain some guard depth but lose Baynes in the middle for the meantime.

The Boston Celtics announced Saturday that Shane Larkin is available to play against the New York Knicks, but Aron Baynes will be out with a left elbow sprain.

Larkin has missed the last ten games with a nagging knee injury, but will return tonight under a minute restriction of about 10-12 minutes. After regaining Marcus Smart on Friday, the Celtics have all of their guard depth back after a few weeks of thin back court availability.

Baynes suffered an elbow injury Friday against the Pistons, and left the game not to return. Daniel Theis provided plenty of quality of minutes replacing Baynes in the Celtics’ win, and will start against New York as a result.

The Celtics and Knicks tip off at 7:30 p.m. EST at Madison Square Garden.
