Brad Stevens hinted last night that Guerschon Yabusele could stay with the Maine Red Claws for a while.
The team’s addition of Greg Monroe has pushed Yabu down the depth chart. However, Stevens is making sure that Guerschon remains ready to go if the team needs him.
Per Jay King of MassLive.
“We don’t have as much depth in the frontcourt as the backcourt (this season),” Stevens said, “especially when you consider basically (Marcus) Morris and everybody down are guards for us the way that we play. So (Yabusele’s) got to be ready -- and game ready -- and hopefully when he comes back he feels like he has his legs under him and he’s got a good confidence and pep about him. You never want to be in a situation where you lose bodies, but certainly how thin we are as far as number of bodies in the frontcourt is why we want him to get ready.
The Dancing Bear has always been more of a project than an immediate contributor, but he has filled in occasionally and has held his own for the most part. He needs more reps, though, and he’ll get more of that in Maine than he will in Boston at this time. So that’s the plan until the team needs him again.
