The veteran big man will be available to play in Washington tonight.

The Celtics officially signed veteran big man Greg Monroe on Thursday afternoon, shortly after the 3PM trade deadline passed. The signing was initially reported by CelticsBlog’s Keith Smith.

Boston reportedly agreed to a deal with Monroe last week, but waited to make the official signing until after Thursday’s deadline. They will use the Disabled Player Exception (see Hayward injury) to sign Monroe.

Monroe has split time this season between the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns. The 27-year-old is averaging 10.4 PPG and 5.2 RPG. Monroe will wear No. 55 for the Celtics and is available to play tonight in Washington.
