The Boston Celtics announced Tuesday that Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and Kyrie Irving are out for Wednesday’s game against the Washington Wizards. Al Horford is listed as questionable.
#NEBHInjuryReport for tomorrow’s game vs. Washington:
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) March 13, 2018
Brown (concussion) - OUT
Hayward (left ankle rehab) - OUT
Horford (illness) - QUESTIONABLE
Irving (left knee soreness) - OUT
Smart (right thumb sprain) - OUT
Theis (left knee meniscal tear) - OUT
This comes after a Monday that saw Daniel Theis lost for the season, and left Smart’s availability for the rest of the year up in the air. According to a report from Mark Murphy, the Celtics still have no idea whether Smart will return this season or not. Smart plans to get a second opinion on his thumb that should provide further information.
Horford missed Sunday’s loss due to an illness, so getting him back in the starting lineup should help ease the blow of playing without three key pieces.
Boston’s starting lineup should be an interesting sight that will probably contain Terry Rozier, Aron Baynes, Jayson Tatum and a number of different combinations of players if Horford’s out.
The Celtics and Wizards tip off Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST in TD Garden as the Celtics’ reserves hope to get the Celtics into the playoffs on a high note.
