WASHINGTON - Brad Stevens met with the media prior to Tuesday night’s game with the Washington Wizards, and talked about Jayson Tatum’s rookie campaign as the rookie of the year debate begins to heat up.
Stevens focused on how successful Tatum has been, despite not entering training camp as a starter. “We probably anticipated coming into the year, a guy that comes off the bench, plays 20-25 minutes a game, grows at a rate that everyone feels comfortable with, and then we just threw him to the wolves instead. He’s been able to handle it, and he’s been great. You know what, we need him to be great.”
He also touched on the potential of playing Washington in round one, and if that impacts the Celtics approach to tonight’s game.
