Ainge: Marcus Smart at least a week away from return

That puts Marcus right on schedule

NBA: Boston Celtics at Minnesota Timberwolves Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

As the Celtics gear up for their first road game of this year’s playoffs in Milwaukee for Game 3, Danny Ainge gave an update on Marcus Smart’s return from thumb surgery.

Smart’s expected return date is April 27th after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb about a month ago. That brings Smart back on the court for either a Game 7 against the Bucks or a few days before the Eastern Conference Semifinals begin.

Ainge’s quotes are consistent with what Smart and Brad Stevens told the media before Game 1 this past Sunday. He was seen getting shots up the day of the game and told reporters that he felt good after shooting with a splint for the first time.

The Celtics and Bucks are scheduled to tip off in Milwaukee at 9:30 p.m. EST as the Celtics look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.
