Celtics Pick NONE 10 to 30 7 to 30 1 to 30 $0

The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the worst teams in the NBA. They also have one of the worst contracts in the NBA (Chandler Parsons).

Mike Conley was one of the most underrated players in the league. He is also on the wrong side of 30 and sat out all but 12 games for bone spurs. Now-- long time Celtics fans may remember how serious this condition can be Larry Bird- Bone Spurs.

Like Conley, Marc Gasol may be one of the most underrated players at his position in the league. He is a 33 year old center. He was good enough this year (17.4 Points, 8.2 Rebounds, 1.4 Blocks) that the Grizzlies may be able him for some assets in the off season.

Chandler Parsons will be 30 next year. He was a very good player for the Rockets his first three years in the league. His game has deteriorated considerably. ALSO-- he has never played a full NBA season and will have played in half of his games for the Grizzlies the last two years in a row. He may have the single worst contract in the league.

Also-- due to the Ted Stepien Rule, I believe that Memphis will not be able to trade a first round pick until 2022. (After the previsions for the Celtics run out.)

Now-- who do they have on their roster who you can build a future around?

Dillon Brooks (shooting guard) RFA-2020
Has had a solid rookie year. While his stats are not great, he looks to be a serviceable rotational player.

JaMychal Green (Power Forward) UFA 2019
Is a solid rebounding power. He has a fairly cheep contract. The smart move would be to move him this summer-- hoping to get a mid first round draft pick.

Ivan Rabb (Power Forward) RFA-2020
Has spent much of the year assigned to the G-league. He has been pretty impressive in the G-League. He may come around but now-- looks like a 30% chance of ever being a solid rotational player.

Jarell Martin (Small Forward) RFA-2019
Not that productive of a player for the Grizzles.

Deyonta Davis (Power Forward) RFA-2019
The definition of a J.A.G. except he is the remaining asset that the Grizzlies have for the first round pick they gave up. Traded • rights to Deyonta Davis • rights to Rade Zagorac to Grizzlies for • first round pick (at least 2 years after Clippers convey first round pick to Raptors from earlier trade) (protected 1-14 in 2019-20, else 2022 second round pick) (?-?) on 2016-06-23,

I can not think of a team with a weaker core of under 25 year old players in the league. Even the Brooklyn Nets who got devastated by the Celtics trade have equal talent.

Memphis would trade-- Rabb, Martin, Davis and Green in a heartbeat for

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, D'Angelo Russell, Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen,

NOW IF-- and it is a BIG IF

Mike Conley rebounds to his pre-injury form.
Marc Gasol is has another solid year in him.
Dillon Brooks becomes a much better player.
Luka Dončić, Marvin Bagley III, or Michael Porter come in and have a Ben Simmonseque rookie year.
and
They are able to move Green for a draft pick who pans our.

The Grizzlies could maybe challenge for the eight spot in the playoffs. The Celtics than would have a late lottery pick in what looks to be a down draft.

BUT-

Coming back from bone spurs is not easy.
The Grizzlies should try to move Gasol for picks or a younger player.
** There is almost no way he is in the league when Memphis challenges for playoff spot. He has a skill set that a lot of teams covet.
BCS, with Gasol next year-- the Grizzlies scratch into the eight seed (UNLIKELY-- as among the non-playoff teams- Phoenix, Sacramento, Dallas, LA Clippers, Denver and the LA Lakers all have far better talent. If they do-- they get beaten like a drum against either GSW or Houston.

and

The other teams that suck are going to be getting draft picks too.

FINALLY-- here are two players who may be available in the 2021 Draft--

Isaiah Todd

N'Faly Danted
