Shams Charania reported the NBA’s All-Rookie teams on Tuesday that included Boston Celtics wing Jayson Tatum.

Tatum reportedly was one vote away from joining Ben Simmons and Donovan Mitchell as unanimous members of the All-Rookie First Team.

The third overall pick in the 2017 draft, Tatum stepped up in the absence of the injured Gordon Hayward all season, providing consistent scoring and defensive versatility for the second seeded Celtics.

He averaged just a hair under 14 points per game, good for the sixth highest average among rookies, while leading all rookies in three point percentage. The playoffs do not factor into the end of the year awards and honors, but Tatum is currently the Celtics’ leading scorer as they prepare for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The 2017 rookie class will go down as one of, if not the best in NBA history, and Tatum being considered as one of the best from that crop has to be a promising sign for Celtics fans everywhere. Tatum is also a finalist for the NBA’s Rookie of the Year Award that will be announced on June 25th.
