This is the tenth re-draft in a 14-part series of re-drafts, looking at every NBA draft from 2004 to 2017.
This isn’t opinion or one controversial statistic. This is a re-draft based on a formula that includes VORP (value over replacement player), BPM (box plus/minus), WS (win shares), PPG (points per game), contribution (minutes), and shooting percentage (field goal and 3-point).
The data determines the re-draft order. Then the players are placed into categories based on the entirety of their career. Therefore the category they fall within is based on if they are mostly known as a star, starter, rotation player, or a bench guy who is largely unknown.
The format is as follows: Re-Draft Position #. Player – Original Draft Position # and Team – Statistics. Also, a team who acquired a player’s rights in a draft day trade is considered the drafting team in our analysis.
