With the 27th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics have selected Texas A&M forward Robert Williams.
Robert Williams is a solid rim-running big who presents tremendous athleticism. He can jump through the roof and is an elite shot blocker. Williams is strong on the glass thanks to his length, and has the defensive tools to be a forceful rim protector. He’s often criticized for his discipline, or lack thereof, but with a little work on the defensive end and improvements to his footwork, Williams can make an impact right off the bat. In his sophomore season at A&M, the 6-10 forward averaged 10.4 PPG and 9.2 RPG, while shooting 63.2% from the floor. Williams was projected much higher than 27th overall, but questions regarding his work ethic caused him to slip down the draft board. Time will tell, but Williams could prove to be one of the steals of the first round.
More to come on the newest member of the Boston Celtics.
