The Boston Celtics announced on Sunday that they have waived guard Kadeem Allen. The 25-year-old Arizona product played on a two-way contract last season after being selected with the 53rd overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Allen averaged 1.1 points and 0.7 assists in 18 contests (1 start) last season. His two-way contract would have guaranteed for the 2018-19 season had he remained under contract after today.

Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe first reported on Saturday that the Celtics would likely release Allen in order to sign another two-way player. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise, as the Celtics roster will be quite crowded next season.
