In addition to head coaching responsibilities this weekend in Summer League, assistant coach Jay Larranaga will be extending his stay in Las Vegas and joining Gregg Popovich with Team USA:

Jamahl Mosley; Spurs asst. Ime Udoka; Blazers asst. David Vanterpool & Villanova’s Jay Wright.— Marc J. Spears (@MarcJSpearsESPN) July 6, 2018
Larranaga had been courted by the New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets last spring and this Team USA appointment is yet another indication that he’s a rising star in the coaching ranks. He’ll join Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward who are part of the 35-player pool that will eventually be whittled down to twelve to represent the United States 2019 USA World Cup and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
