Here’s the scoop from The Globe’s Gary Washburn:
Hearing there's a good chance TNT season-opening slate will be #Sixers-#Celtics and #Thunder-#Warriors on Oct. 16

With LeBron James now in Los Angeles, the Eastern Conference is wide open so it makes sense that the NBA would feature the two teams slotted to be the heirs of the throne. Jayson Tatum vs. Ben Simmons. Jaylen Brown vs. Markelle Fultz. Joel Embiid vs. Al Horford, Aron Baynes, and Marcus Morris. Opening Night is going to be a blast. The Celtics’ gentlemen’s sweep of the Sixers last spring has all the makings of good beef between the contenders for years to come. It gave us 3-0, Scary Terry taking a shot at The Process, and The Confetti Game.
Earlier in the week, the Celtics announced their four-game preseason schedule featuring a home-and-home with the Hornets and Cavaliers which starts on September 28th and ends on October 6th.
