According to ESPN’s Chris Forsberg, Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward are returning to Boston next week to join their Boston Celtics teammates for pre-training camp workouts at “full speed”.
“If our training camp were starting today, [Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward] would be here today going full speed.”

Celtics’ General Manager Danny Ainge told ESPN, that if training camp were to start today, both players would be “going full speed.” Irving and Hayward will be participating in informal workouts and pickup play “by the time Labor Day is over.”
Ainge says that the team will be careful in managing Irving and Haywards activity during camp, but Boston’s depth will ease the burden on the two stars. “Obviously there’s a transition from rehabbing to playing 1-on-1 to playing 3-on-3 to 5-on-5 and then playing NBA basketball, so I don’t want to build up expectations too high. I think there will be a little bit of an adjustment once that last phase is made.”
Training Camp opens up at the Auerbach Center on September 26, followed by the team’s first preseason game on September 28 against the Charlotte Hornets. The Celtics begin the regular season on October 16 vs the Philadelphia 76ers.
