Action for Boston Community Development held their annual Hoop Dreams event at TD Garden on Tuesday night, and Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens spoke to the media about ABCD and his expectations heading into training camp.

Stevens said that he’s been told “everyone is going to be ready to go” for training camp. The Celtics head coach specifically discussed the health of Daniel Theis and Gordon Hayward as well, saying that both players should be cleared for 5-on-5 play in the near future. “Daniel (Theis) was in the gym this morning, he looks great. He has not been cleared for 5-on-5 play yet, but the anticipation is that he will by the start of training camp on September 25.”

He also sounded quite optimistic on the progress of Hayward. “I saw him a couple weeks ago in San Diego. I went out there and watched him work out and he looked really good. … He looks good. He’ll be cleared to go some 5-on-5 here very, very, very soon. Like, anytime soon.”

Some other interesting tidbits? Last night was Stevens first time at TD Garden since the Celtics fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Stevens also added that Marcus Smart diving on the floor after returning from injury in last year’s Eastern Conference Semifinals gave him “chills”. “We’re thrilled to have him back and we’re thrilled to have him back for a long time.”
