According to WBZ, Boston Celtics guard Jabari Bird is under arrest and facing charges after an assault in Brighton, Massachusetts on Friday night. Bird is in custody at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton. Boston Police say the victim of the alleged assault is being treated at a separate location.

The Celtics released a statement this morning saying, “We are aware of the incident involving Jabari Bird and are taking it very seriously. We are actively gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time.”
A statement from the Boston Police said that “complaints will be sought against the suspect for assault and battery 209-A, strangulation, and kidnapping.”
Bird was signed to a two-year contract this July, which made him an”official member of the 15-man roster.
