After being listed as questionable yesterday, the Celtics officially announced that Kyrie Irving will be out tonight in Brooklyn. Here’s the play where Irving says that Aaron Gordon kneed him and created a knot in his quad:
Irving seems certain that he’ll be available on Wednesday at the Garden vs. the visiting Toronto Raptors. In his media availability today, Irving talked about his comments after the team’s disappointing loss in Orlando on Saturday:
“We’ve all got to be of that same mindset - that it’s championship or nothing,” Kyrie Irving says.

He promised to not publicly criticize his teammates again, saying “I just want to win so bad.”
The Celtics will also be without Irving’s starting back court mate, Marcus Smart. Smart is doubtful due to illness. In their last meeting in Boston, the Celtics throttled the Nets 116-95, but Brooklyn should have key rotation players Joe Harris and DeMarre Carroll back in the mix.
