Kyrie Irving (hip) OUT tonight against the Nets

Look for Terry Rozier to take his spot in the starting lineup once again.

The Boston Celtics will be without their starting point guard as they look to recover from their last loss against the Golden State Warriors. Kyrie Irving will miss tonight’s game against the Brooklyn Nets with a left hip injury:

As Celtics, you’re surely well-aware of how bad hip injuries can be. Going the safe route in January is the smart way to go. Additionally, this game could serve to boost the stock Terry Rozier (who will likely start tonight). In his last game as a starter against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Rozier posted 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The trade deadline is on February 7th. Do with that information what you will.

Meanwhile, Irving finished the game on Saturday night with the Warriors just fine after posting 32 points and 10 assists. Hopefully, his left hip strain isn’t a serious issue that will affect him for more than the short term.

The Celtics are 1-1 against the Brooklyn Nets this month, with this being the third time the two teams have squared off on a Monday evening. The game tips off tonight at 7:30PM EST.
