The Celtics won 3 out of the 4 games against the Sixers this season, but the loss on Wednesday significantly hurt the Celtics chances of getting the 3 seed in the playoffs.
With 10 games left in the regular season, the Celtics are running out of time to make up the 4 games that they trail the Sixers in the standings. In fact, they are still looking up at the Pacers a well.
Boston does have two games remaining against Indiana, so they have every chance of pulling ahead and securing home court advantage in the 4-5 series.
In addition, according to Tankathon, the Sixers have the 2nd easiest strength of schedule remaining, while the Celtics have the 18th hardest. The Pacers have the 6th hardest.
On the other hand, we’re in that part of the calendar where playoff teams are selectively resting players (as the Celtics have indicated that they will do) and non-playoff teams are shutting players down for the season.
What do you think? Can the Celtics still get the 3rd seed or should they settle for playing for home court advantage?
