According to Shams Charania, the Boston Celtics are signing Greg Monroe to a 10-day contract.
Free agent center Greg Monroe has agreed to a 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

The former Celtic was signed by the Toronto Raptors in the offseason but was traded to the Nets and released during the year. He played 38 games, averaged 4.8 points and 4.1 rebounds in 11.1 minutes per game for the Raps.
Monroe showed flashes of his talent for a shorthanded Celtics team last season. With Baynes dinged up and Al Horford looking for some rest, this may be a move to eat up some minutes with a big man that already knows the system and how to fit in on this roster.
Note: The Celtics signing Moose doesn’t close the door on picking up Thomas Robinson.
Per a source, the Celtics signing Greg Monroe does not mean the team will not sign Thomas Robinson. Boston wants to see Robinson play out the NBAGL season with Maine. In addition, the Celtics wanted someone ready to go right now with other bigs banged up.

Both Monroe and Robinson are playoff eligible.

Monroe was waived by the Nets after they picked him up in a salary dump from the Raptors at the trade deadline. He was cut with plenty of time before the playoff eligibility deadline.
Robinson has not played in the NBA this year. https://t.co/tFlNTcjTSa
