Don’t pencil in Tacko Fall for one of the final roster spots on the Boston Celtics just quite yet.
According to the Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Celtics are making a move to sign former Xavier forward Kaiser Gates to a training camp contract. Charania reported that Gates, who went undrafted and played last season with the Chicago Bulls G-League affiliate the Windy City Bulls, is expected to compete amongst Fall and others for the final roster spot.

Fall signed an Exhibit 10 contract with Boston in June, which gives Fall an invite to training camp and allows the Celtics the flexibility to waive him at any point with the possibility of Fall suiting up for the Maine Red Claws if he passes through waivers. Along with Fall and now Gates, Tremont Waters and Max Strus are vying for the final roster spot and the C’s could add one more player to their training camp roster.
Kaiser Gates will be the Boston Celtics 19th player under contract. Boston has on more roster spot to fill before training camp.
