A sad day: Takeaways from Celtics/Pelicans

New, comments

A game was played in New Orleans, but hearts weren’t in it

1. The game started with a tribute to Kobe Bryant, as both teams took 24-second shot clock violations. 24 was Bryant’s jersey number in the second half of his NBA career.

2. As for the game itself, it played out in a familiar manner similar to too many Celtics games this year. Boston fell way behind, before rallying to make it close. In the end, the Celtics didn’t have enough to get over the hump.

Falling behind and relying on rallies isn’t a sustainable way to win. This is especially true on the road. Boston pulled it off in Orlando on Friday, but couldn’t duplicate that effort on Sunday in New Orleans.

3. For reasons I’m sure you can all understand, that’s going to do it for the Takeaways today. Instead of spending any more here in this space, take the time to go talk to/call/text/email/whatever someone you love. That’s always time well spent. Back on Wednesday after the Miami game.
