Pritchard escaped without major injury, undergoing an x-ray and taping his fingers with hope to return to practice that same day. He ultimately returned on Sunday.
Jaylen Brown named Bostonian of the Year
The Boston Globe named Jaylen Brown among six award winners of Bostonian of the Year. Brown received the award for his activism in the aftermath of the George Floyd killing that reignited the Black Lives Matter, all while leading the Boston Celtics on the court during the transition to the NBA Bubble. He became a near All Star and 20 point per game scorer while emphasizing voting rights and education, among other initiatives. He said he’s not a politician or civil rights leader, and that he shouldn’t receive an award for something that should be mandatory. Today he spoke about his leadership approach to this year’s Celtics.
Jeff Teague on leading young Celtics
Jeff Teague gave no indication on whether or not he’ll start with the Celtics when preseason games begin next week. With Kemba Walker out and Payton Pritchard banged up he figures to play 30 minutes anyway, but says he’s still in the process of seeing where he fits in and gelling with the other Celtics during an unusual offseason. He said Jaylen Brown has helped him get acclimated to Boston while the young Boston players have both taken his advice and given him feedback.
Tacko Fall returns to Celtics Improved
Tacko Fall talked about returning to the Celtics improved at his Boston Media Day and having the chance to spend an entire year with the team due to the closure of the Maine Red Claws. He says he’s transformed from a strictly post-up player to one who can pass from the high post and make screens into handoffs to the Celtics shooters. Grant Williams further attested this and Brad Stevens applauded his efforts to move beyond the post.
