Jayson Tatum is questionable for the contest due to a left thumb sprain while Tristan Thompson, who started the season playing on a minutes restriction, will not suit up as the Celtics continue to be cautious with him since Thompson is recovering from a right hamstring strain.
Javonte Green played the fourth highest minutes of his NBA career in Tuesday’s win over the Indiana Pacers, but is out versus the Grizzlies due to health and safety protocols.
#NEBHInjuryReport continued:— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 30, 2020
Tristan Thompson (right hamstring strain recovery) - OUT
Kemba Walker (left knee injury recovery) - OUT
Last night, Tatum poured in a game-high 27 points in 40 minutes while sporting a noticeable wrap on his left thumb. For Thompson, who had his best showing so far in a Celtics uniform in the 116-111 come-from-behind victory by totaling 14 points and 10 rebounds, it might be more about resting the big man since he just played four games in a week’s span after not seeing game action since last March.
Even though the Celtics will have some missing pieces, Memphis will not have dynamic guard Ja Morant available as he is out three to five weeks after sustaining a Grade 2 ankle sprain Monday against the Brooklyn Nets.
Romeo Langford (right wrist surgery) and Kemba Walker (left knee injury recovery) continue to make their usual appearance on the injury report and right now there’s no timetable on their return. Tacko Fall is questionable against the Grizzlies due to right eye irritation.
