It’s been a month since real competitive basketball was a part of our daily lives, leaving us devoid of any form of competitive basketball content outside of NBA 2K. Sure, we were treated to a game of celebrity HORSE the other day, and we had the players 2K league, but something is still missing.
That innate desire for competition has helped us at CelticsPod to come up with a new content idea, which we hope will entertain, inform, and most enjoyably, be competitive. Starting today at 5:30 ET, the inaugural episode of NBA Trivia Chasedown will be taking place, where two people go head-to-head in a battle of NBA trivia both old and new. Tonight’s contestants are CelticsBlog’s Keith Smith and Bobby Manning, with another show scheduled for Sunday at 5:30 ET where John Karalis will face off against our Greg Dudek. The winner of each show will then face off next week, before the show then moves to a “winner stays on” format.
Tonight at 5:30 ET, will be the inaugural episode of @celticsblog CelticsPod’s NBA Trivia Chasedown.

This will be live streamed via Twitter and downloadable as a podcast later today.
Today’s contestants are @KeithSmithNBA vs @RealBobManning
This should be a fun one
Each episode will be live streamed on Twitter, and posted as a podcast for you to enjoy at your own leisure. We won’t be making these questions easy either, so this is your chance to watch as the pressure begins to mount on these contestants, with the will to win and earn bragging rights a driving factor. Will the contestants be coming into this with a strategy or will they opt to play mind games as the points pile up, hoping to throw each other off their game?
The scoring for this show is simple: each question will be worth 2 points with no penalties for wrong answers. To finish the game, there will be a bonus round where each contestant can gamble up to 10 of their points on one final question; get it wrong and lose the points you gamble or get it correct and you double your bet.
If you’re wondering how these questions will be formatted, here is an example:
The Red Hot Chili Peppers, a Cali-based rock band, are massive Lakers fans, to the point where they named a song after a famous Laker in their 1989 album “Mother’s Milk.” Which Lakers star do they sing about?
A) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
B) Magic Johnson
C) James Worthy
D) Wilt Chamberlain
This question will be answered at the start of today’s show. Enjoy!
