Tales from CelticsBlog Slack: who won our fantasy draft?

You really can’t go wrong with a team built with Celtics greats, but this is sports. Let’s debate.

With our fantasy draft complete, we asked CelticsBlog’s senior staff who put together the best team and what team might win a virtual matchup for the ages:

Jeff Clark: These are some great teams. As always in these situations I feel like I’m being asked to pick between my children.

I really like Team Sy a lot. I mean that frontcourt of Horford and KG is an impenetrable wall and having Smart off the bench is amazing. IT4, Sharman, and Jo Jo would take care of the scoring and I Love Waltah would get Tommy all riled up.

But I think my favorite team is Team Hooper. I mean, Larry Legend, Reggie Lewis, and Tommy all on the same team? How can you stop that trio? Especially with peak Rondo feeding them the ball. If all else fails, dump it down to Al Jefferson and let him get buckets.

Honorable mention to Team Brueck-Cassoli as well. A lot of my favorites on there. Russell and Tiny make up for Tatum and Brown’s lack of experience (though that’s never stopped them before). I’ve always had soft spots for Antoine and Dana Barros too.

Well done on all these teams. Of course you had a great draft class to work with. Nice job everyone.

Keith Smith: I am caught between a few teams here.

Team Sy’s defensive potential is off the charts. We already know Smart and Horford and cover for Isaiah Thomas, now add Kevin Garnett to that mix? I just worry if they can score enough.

Team Hooper immediately catches my eye because of Larry Bird and Reggie Lewis. Rajon Rondo would average 20 assists per game setting up that team. Not a lot of interior defense though.

Team Spinella probably has the best all-around shooting, but I don’t know if they could get stops when necessary.

I like the offense of Team Taylor, but so much pressure would be on Robert Parish to carry the defense.

That leaves it down to to Team Brueck-Cassoli and Team Noonan. Both have really good balance of offense and defense. Maybe it’s recency bias, but give me Team Brueck-Cassoli. Bill Russell will impact the wisdom of winning on Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and the rest of the guys are just solid role players.

Overall, really well done and no bad teams in the mix. Of course, how could there be when drafting all-time Celtics?!?!

For what it’s worth, our resident Celtics historian, Professor Parquet, selected Team Noonan as the winner of the draft. He noted that the addition of Bailey Howell was a sneaky good pick for the bench.

What’s your call? Which of our writers built the best of Boston?
