In today’s episode of CelticsPod, NBC Boston’s Abby Chin joins me for a special guest interview.

We discussed the emotional rollercoaster Abby found herself on last season when NBC informed her role as the Celtics sideline reporter was coming to an end. Abby explained the ups and downs of covering the Celtics from the sidelines while knowing every game was closer to her last and doing so under the current pandemic circumstances.

When news broke that Abby would no longer be working the sideline job, there was an enormous swell of support across social media, from fan outrage to official petitions. Abby details what this support meant to both her and her family.

Now working on the post-game show for NBC along with Brian Scalabrine and Kendrick Perkins, Abby details the adjustments from sideline reporting to studio life while elaborating on her friendships with both Scal and Perk.

It wouldn’t be a Celtics podcast without us talking about some of the Celtics players. Abby details the adjustments required to go from friendly sideline reporter to studio analyst like occasionally pointing out the weaker side of players’ performances.

On Grant Williams, we inevitably get into the subject of board games, and more specifically, if Abby has participated in a game of Catan against the second-year big. Abby is also a board game fan and details the games she’s been playing with family over the last few months.

We wrap up the show by touching on the James Harden-to-Brooklyn trade, and if Abby agrees with ESPN’s Stephen A Smith on if Kyrie Irving should (or more importantly, could) retire.
