The G-League is scheduled to play the entirety of the 2020-21 season at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
Like their NBA counterparts were, the G-League teams will be housed on Disney property inside a “bubble”.
The G-League season will consist of several regular season games, followed by the top-eight teams advancing to a single-elimination tournament.
18 teams will take part in the G-League season. 17 of these teams are Affiliate Teams that are tied to an NBA team. The 18th team is the new G-League Ignite team, which is made of players making the jump to professional basketball directly from high school and NBA veterans.
Opting to have the Red Claws not play this season likely has very little impact on the Celtics. Boston two Two-Way players, Tacko Fall and Tremont Waters, are set to spend the entire season in the NBA. The Two-Way rules were tweaked this season to allow Two-Way players to be active for up to 50 games. Because of this, it’s likely the Celtics would have kept Fall and Waters with the NBA team had the Red Claws played or not.
