Celtics PRIDE podcast: brutal loss to the Bulls, Jayson Tatum superstar (?), and Boston’s point guard situation

A 2-5 start has the Pride crew buzzing.

The Celtics PRIDE co-hosts meet the 2-5 Celtics face-to-face in this podcast, with their reaction to the Celtics’ 7th game of the season - a backbreaking, 19-point-3rd-quarter-lead-gifting, come-from-behind loss to the Chicago Bulls.

They all agree it’s worth the first 30 minutes of this podcast to go “in” on Jayson Tatum and dissect what’s really going wrong with this team and its best player. Mike Minkoff thinks Jayson Tatum is playing with a losers’ mindset. Adam Motenko is sick of Tatum’s complaining to the refs and not running back on defense. Josh Motenko pulls out the dictionary.

However, Coach Josh is not all the way sure the team needs to have its best player be its best leader. He also points out that there are some systemic issues with how we got here. Firstly, the Celtics don’t have one truly great passer on the team, and he gives stats to show how the solid ones they do have are not playing up to par.

The pod circles back around to Jayson Tatum with the question, “how long do we wait for Tatum to figure it out?” Minkoff wonders if he will ever reach the next level, while Coach Josh posits that there are two types of superstars - those who were built great, and those who had to learn to be great. Would you compare Tatum to Giannis, Pierce, Dirk or Durant in this way?
