Celtics PRIDE podcast: Kemba Walker’s struggles and Carsen Edwards and Grant Williams stepping up out west

We’ve seen the full spectrum of good and bad on this road trip.

On this episode of Celtics PRIDE, Adam Motenko, Josh Motenko, and Mike Minkoff discuss the Celtics’ 2-2 west coast swing against the Warriors, Kings, Clippers, and Suns. They consider whether there’s cause for concern over Kemba (spoiler: there isn’t and y’all need to calm down), how excited we should be about the progress of young guys like (first time starter) Carsen Edwards and hot-stroking Grant Williams (depends who you ask), and whether Celtics units led by Brown are more effective than those led by Tatum.

Then, the team unveils the Celtics Pride TPE Big Board — the composite top-5 (well, 6 it turned out) TPE targets after starting with a list of 35 candidates from which each of Josh, Adam, and Mike’s picked and scored their preferred respective top-5 targets.

One of us floats trading Marcus Smart to get Draymond Green and we collectively grapple with whether the Celtics should target a player with multiple years left, or somebody set to become a free agent. Hovering over it all are questions about the team’s greatest position of need, whether using the TPE mid-season (versus after the season) is the best time, and whether the Celtics (and Tatum and Brown) have already entered their championship contention window.

About Celtics PRIDE Podcast: Co-Hosts Adam Motenko, his identical twin brother Josh Motenko, and their friend Mike Minkoff couldn’t stop talking about the team. Now they supply your need for Boston Celtics content with their regular podcast on CelticsBlog.

They will talk nerdy to you, dissect the players on and off the court, and bicker like only opinionated New Englanders can. It’s like if CelticsBlog made a BasketballJones / Dunc’dOn lovechild.

You will get the coach’s perspective, the capologist’s view, and a healthy dose of advanced and traditional stats that breakdown everything that happened and could happen with the #1 dynasty in the NBA. If you often find yourself reminiscing about the players you grew up watching, or you just need reminders about what “being a Celtic” means to you, this is the podcast for you. This is Celtics PRIDE!
