A. Sherrod Blakely joined John Zannis and Jimmy Toscano on the Celtics Post Game Show after the Celtics beat the Rockets 134-107 in Houston.
Robert Williams III Should Start for Celtics
A Sherrod Blakely joined the Garden Report postgame show to talk about the near perfect performance of Robert Williams in the Celtics win vs the undermanned Houston Rockets. The Celtics keep winning the minutes Robert Williams plays, and his per-36 numbers are averaging well above double-double production with the shot-blocking Boston needs. John Zannis and Jimmy Toscano continue to argue to start Robert Williams III to at least showcase his trade value for the offseason. Sherrod agreed, but argued why he hasn’t been under Brad Stevens in his Garden Report appearance.
Andre Drummond to Celtics?
A. Sherrod Blakely joined the Garden Report after the Celtics won vs the Rockets to discuss “blockbuster” trade rumors for Boston, like Jerami Grant and Nikola Vucevic, that no longer appear to be possible. Sherrod’s next “blockbuster” for Danny Ainge would be adding Andre Drummond if the Cavaliers buy him out. That may not be happening if the Nets and Lakers acquire him, but Sherrod believes he could help against stronger bigs like Joel Embiid.
Is it Too Soon to TRADE Romeo Langford?
A. Sherrod Blakely joined Celtics Post Game after Boston beat the Houston Rockets to discuss the potential return of Romeo Langford in the weeks ahead. John Zannis doesn’t want to see Boston move on from the second year NBA Draft pick from Indiana without seeing what he can do with consistent minutes. Blakely touted the defense that surprised NBA executives last year. “You know it’s going to come back and bite Danny in the a**,” Blakely said if the Celtics use Romeo in a Trade Deadline deal. “That’s why it’s so frustrating waiting for him to get back on the court,” Jimmy Toscano said.
Why the Celtics Might Make NO TRADES
The Celtics need help alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown at the wing and point guard, among other depth concerns, but Wyc Grousbeck and Danny Ainge have indicated in interviews that trade prices may be too high. That cost could include the luxury tax, which Boston does not have much wiggle room below if they want to use their trade exception at the Trade Deadline (TPE). Are the Celtics unwilling to spend money to win now, and is that wise?
