After a “questionable” designation on yesterday’s injury report, Robert Williams joins Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker as out tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It marks Timelord’s seventh straight missed game as he recovers from swelling in his knee.
The last time we saw Williams play was on April 13th in Portland. In the ten games that he started after the NBA trade deadline, he was a revelation. The Celtics went 8-2 during that stretch with road wins over the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, and Portland Trail Blazers, in large part to The Timelord averaging 10.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and two blocks per game. Boston is 3-3 in his absence.
Tatum is on the shelf with left ankle impingement that’s been bothering him over the last few games. Walker left Sunday’s game with a left side strain, but returned to play twenty-nine minutes in the loss to the Hornets. Both will at least sit out the front end of this back-to-back set against OKC and Charlotte.
