With a key matchup tonight against a big, physical Philadelphia 76ers team, the Celtics could be getting back a key player to face Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Tobias Harris. After missing the last two weeks due to a hip contusion, Semi Ojeleye is set to make his return tonight after not appearing on Monday’s injury report.
Ojeleye was hurt by Jrue Holiday blind screen in Milwaukee and on that play, he was defending Giannis Antetokounmpo. For the last four years, that’s been Ojeleye’s assignment: often staying in front of opposing team’s most physically imposing figure.
For what it’s worth, in the Celtics’ mini-series against the 76ers back in late January, Boston drew Ben Simmons into three offensive charges, all including Ojeleye. Semi’s return couldn’t come at a better time with the team sitting at .500, 7th in the East, and half a game ahead of the New York Knicks who they face tomorrow night.

Tristan Thompson will continue to be out due to the league’s health and safety protocols, but has been seen ramping up for a return possibly later in the week.
