Celtics PRIDE podcast: Jaylen Brown’s wrist surgery and postseason mindset

With the Celtics All-Star out for the rest of the season, the crew discusses where the team goes from here and if the playoffs are even salvageable at this point.

The Celtics PRIDE guys share their instant reactions to the news of Jaylen Brown being out for the remainder of the year after being diagnosed with a torn scapholunate ligament in his wrist. He is expecting to have surgery later this week. They also discuss what this means for the rest of this season.

Jaylen’s injury is the same as Bojan Bogdanovic and Romeo Langoford, although with Jaylen Brown, his injury was sustained to his left (non-shooting) wrist. Bojan has been playing great in his comeback. There is a 3-to-6 month recovery time, so the Celtics are hopeful Brown will be ready by the start of training camp 5 months from now. Brown played 58 total games, and ironically has incentives tied to making the All-Star team and playing exactly 58 games, which increases his earnings $1.339 million, according to Bobby Marks.

Where do we go from here? Mad Mike thinks we should rest Tatum, Walker, and Smart and “put them in bubble wrap.” Oh, and Timelord, too. Coach Josh tries to explain why this is the stupidest unrealistic decision ever conjured by a human brain, and is evidence that Mike just doesn’t get it.

“You’d be fired… so I guess it’s lucky for us you were never hired.” Josh Motenko

Can you tell we’re upset about such a depressing culmination of the season? It’s a good thing Adam is there to eulogize the season with words of wisdom. Tune in for some much needed Celtics therapy.

You will get the coach’s perspective, the capologist’s view, and a healthy dose of advanced and traditional stats that breakdown everything that happened and could happen with the #1 dynasty in the NBA. If you often find yourself reminiscing about the players you grew up watching, or you just need reminders about what “being a Celtic” means to you, this is the podcast for you.
