This Roster Isn' t That Bad And What Should Be Done This Off-Season

Let me start with saying, this roster isn' t that bad. We have two 25+ ppg scorers, a third option who can read what game needs, a wing who can shoot off the cath and screens, run PnR, play-make and take advantage of mismatches, a athletic big who plays above the rim, is a great passer and runs the floor, two rookies who play hard and can shoot well and of course Marcus Smart who is always energetic, hustles and makes winning plays. The players around the J' s are perfect matches for them and the J's are perfect corner stones for us to build around them. I think the fact that Kemba had to shake off the rust, RWIII wasn't made a starter until end of the season, Aaron got over the rookie wall just recently and Evan was a late addition and missed a lot of games are the reasons why they don't look like how i just described them but it doesn't take away from who they are.

Now, let's get to what i think needs to be done this off-season.

  • Resign Evan: Like i said, he is a perfect fit and you can't get anyone better than him in the market with your money. Team is in a possition to resign him so just do it, might have to overpay a little but can't find a replacement at this point.
  • Decide What To Do With Marcus: I am NOT saying you have to trade Smart because I still believe that every team needs and wants a Marcus. But you have to decide what you want to do, you can't half-a** it because if you decide to half-a** it then you are either going to lose him for nothing (or get a TPE and we are going to do this all over again) or you are going to trade him for useless 2nd round picks at the deadline. İf you want to resign him next season then put yourself into a position where you can match other team's offers (because unlike last time, his worth and what he can do is known all over the league and he is going to get offers), if you want to trade him then do it now while there are teams like Atlanta and NOLA who could use a guy like Smart and also have guys who we could be interested in (Collins and Lonzo). İf you are gonna trade him then you need to dump some salaries but with a little sweetener some teams might be tempted to take Thompson's contract. What ever they decide to do, they have to commit to that idea and make it work because when it comes to Smart we are at a critical point.
  • Use The Remaining TPE: 11 mil isn't going to get you a game changer but you can get a solid player with it, someone on the level of Jeremy Lamb. İf they research it well they can buy cheap into a good player like what they did with Morris back in the day. I can't come up with a good idea but someone who knows more than me can make a suggestion down below.
  • Get Fresh Blood: Semi, Tacko and Waters; they have been on the team for more than one season and they still don't play. Early in the season that reserve wing position was wide open and even though he was given the chance Semi couldn't deliver, Waters had several chance to do something with all of those injuries but the best he could do was blow a 30pt lead and (i don't know or care if it was the right call or not but) BS decided to play Wagner over Tacko so that tells me he will not get to play ever. Roster spot could be counted as a asset to in a way and we need to try to find gems in the ocean of players. We can't keep 5th stringers who won't do anything, only that way we can find our own Josh Jackson (former top 5 pick who couldn't deliver), Carmelo (washed veteran) and Kendrick Nunn (undrafted).
  • Get Rid Of As Much Of The Last Year's Draft As Possible: This one is personal and i am not saying we should use assets to dump those guys but like i said above, there are ways to get rid of them; Romeo could be that sweetener i talked about (he is not worth much but he has upside i guess and teams might want that), Grant or Carsen can be the ones who is swaped in the TPE trade and just let go of Tacko and Waters. Now, why i want them gone? Because they are eyesores, i am sick of reading how bad Grant is and why he is the cuase of world's destruction or whatever. Look let's be honest, Danny is a good drafter; everyone hated JB pick but look how that turned out, he finessed 76ers and drafted JT, he picked RWIII at 27 and PPPG at 26, if Aaron had an off-season, summer league and practice he could' ve been a factor much earlier and don't get me started on Smart and Rozier picks. The fact that last years draft sucked doesn't change the fact that Danny is a good drafter but it IS also the other way around, that draft sucked and i hate all of them and i want to see others in their place.
  • Take Advantage Of Off-Season: Get healthy, rest and practice hard this off-season. Make Evan, PPPG and Aaron real parts of this roster with defined roles. There is blame for everyone on this roster, from BS to players to Danny. But the fact that there is blame doesn't mean that they can't change; JT ,JB and BS (for a coach) are young and they can learn from their mistakes and improve; and what better time for that then off-season so please don't be that harsh on them (critisize but not this harsh, i literally see death threats). İnstead believe that they will change and support them because they are OUR stars and OUR coach and there is no benefit to trash them.
I am a fan of this team forever and i will cheer for them forever and i will always believe in them forever. I hope you fell the same way. This team will turn around and we need to give them our support as the best fans in the NBA.
