Already dealing with a groin pull possibly suffered by a Kevin Durant flagrant foul in Game 1, Jayson Tatum left Game 2 in Brooklyn after KD poked him in the eye. Here’s the play:

After Tatum stole away the rebound, Durant swiped up at Tatum’s face. Tatum immediately crumpled to the floor as Brad Stevens called a timeout. Tatum went straight to the locker room, but has returned to the floor late in the third quarter.

Earlier in the game, TNT’s Jared Greenberg reported that Tatum had suffered a groin injury in Game 1 but was “feeling much better today.”

In twenty-one minutes so far, Tatum has shot just 3-for-12 from the field with three turnovers for nine points. He’s been ruled out for the rest of the game.

After the game, Brad Stevens said, “he got scratched pretty good. It looks pretty red. It looks pretty swollen to me. I don’t know what that means. I don’t know the exact diagnosis is, but obviously he’s uncomfortable right now.”

The Celtics will have another three days off before resuming the series in Boston on Friday night.
