Summer Celtics blow past Magic 108-71

Boston faced little resistance in plowing through Orlando for a third straight Summer League victory.

The Boston Celtics’ stellar Summer League play continued on Thursday evening with a dominant 108-71 win over the Orlando Magic.

Boston got off to a quick start thanks to a defense that held the Magic to just 16 points in the opening frame. Led by Aaron Nesmith’s seven points and two assists, the Celtics ended the first quarter up by nine.

There was more dominance in the second quarter from Boston, outscoring the Magic by 10 to take a 19-point lead into the half. After a quiet first quarter, Payton Pritchard had eight points in the second to finish the first 24 minutes with 11 points. Carson Edwards chipped in five in the quarter as well.

The second half offered little drama and more of the same dominance for the Celtics, who ballooned their lead to as high as 44 en route to the victory.

Sam Houser was a scorching 6-of-8 from beyond the arc en route to a game-high 21 points for the Celtics. Nesmith followed with 18 along with nine rebounds and four assists, while Pritchard finished with 17 points, nine assists, and three steals.

Tahjere McCall was the only member of the Magic to finish in double figures in the scoring column with 12 points.

Boston remains undefeated in Summer League play through three games. Their next matchup is scheduled for Saturday at 5 pm EST against the Philadelphia 76ers.
